Black Noble Barrel Aged Botrytis Semillon

De Bortoli Riverina Black Noble Barrel Aged Botrytis Semillon originates from Bilbul at Riverina in south-west New South Wales – the birthplace of De Bortoli.

Select fruit parcels are set aside during the harvest of Botrytised grapes for De Bortoli's famous Noble One Botrytis Semillon. Those with intense, ripe Botrytis characters will become Black Noble.

The fruit undergoes very little fermentation before it is fortified with a neutral grape spirit, inhibiting any further fermentation. The wine is clarified and a touch of brandy spirit is added to build complexity.

It is then transferred to a solera system of barrels previously used to age Noble One. Young parcels of wine are blended with old parcels – some dating back decades – to produce a wine with an average age of 10 years.

Amber with olive hues, De Bortoli Riverina Black Noble Barrel Aged Botrytis Semillon is medium bodied and sweet with rich, concentrated dried fruit flavours and lingering aged complexity.

It is designed for immediate drinking, though will keep in bottle for several years.
