Rayner Vineyard Shiraz
Wine
Bondar Rayner Vineyard Shiraz draws from the two oldest blocks of the Rayner Vineyard in McLaren Vale, planted in 1947 and 1950.
Both blocks are hand harvested. The 1947 plantings in deep sandy soils with ironstone rocks provide fruit with elegant fragrance, while the 1950 plantings in shallow clay over limestone provide structure.
A proportion of the fruit is left as whole bunches for fermentation. The wine then matures in mostly seasoned oak hogsheads for 18-20 months. A limited release wine, it is hand bottled without filtration.
Deep crimson, Bondar Rayner Vineyard Shiraz has dark berry flavours and velvety tannins. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
