Messing About Saperavi
Wine
Ballandean Estate Messing About Saperavi is grown on the estate's Bellevue Vineyard. At 850 metres elevation, the site overlooks Girraween National Park in the cool Granite Belt region.
Saperavi originates from the country of Georgia. It is one of the rare varieties whose juice has a pink hue without any influence from the skins.
The fruit is carefully monitored on the vine, ensuring it has a balance of flavour, acidity and tannin ripeness. It is then handpicked, destemmed and crushed to undergo a long fermentation.
The wine matures in barrel for 14 months. A relatively higher proportion of new French oak is used to build structure and soak up the wine's tannins and high alcohol content.
Inky purple, Ballandean Estate Messing About Saperavi is full bodied and savoury with juicy berry flavours, fine tannins and lingering oak. Cellaring potential is seven years.
