Mourvèdre
Wine
Yangarra Estate Mourvèdre is grown in the estate vineyard at Kangarilla in McLaren Vale. The certified biodynamic vineyard lies on a west facing block on sandy, ironstone gravel soils.
Most of the estate Mourvèdre goes into the GSM blend each year. However, when the vintage is exceptional a single varietal bottling is made.
The fruit is mechanically sorted. Half is kept as whole bunches and the other half as whole berries. The grapes cold soak until the onset of wild fermentation, followed by a regime of plunging and rack and returns.
The wine is racked to seasoned French oak and kept on lees for 10 months. It is bottled without fining, just filtration.
Deep dark purple, Yangarra Estate Mourvèdre is highly aromatic with succulent dark fruits, abundant tannins, silky textures and firm acidity. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
