Kalgan Ironrock Shiraz

Willoughby Park Kalgan Ironrock Shiraz is a single site wine from the estate's Kalgan River vineyard. Situated in rocky beds abundant in iron ore, the vines produce grapes with concentrated flavours.

The fruit is destemmed and crushed into fermenters, where it is cold soaked to extract varietal flavours and aromas. During fermentation with selected yeasts, the juice is pumped over with aeration twice a day.

After pressing the wine is transferred to barrel for malolactic fermentation and 18 months of ageing. It receives egg white fining before bottling.

Dark red purple, Willoughby Park Kalgan Ironrock Shiraz has fleshy bramble fruit flavours and subtle oak. Well integrated tannins lead to a long finish. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
