Long Road Shiraz
Wine
Whicher Ridge Long Road Shiraz is grown on the lean, gravelly granitic loams and undulating terrain of Frankland River, a long drive inland from the south coast of Western Australia.
Most of the fruit is open fermented with daily hand plunging. Also daily, the juice is drained and returned over the grape skins with plenty aeration. A barrel fermented portion adds complexity to the final blend.
At dryness the wine is basket pressed. It then matures for two years in a mix of French and American oak barrels.
Deep inky purple, Whicher Ridge Frankland River Shiraz offers red and dark berry flavours with velvety tannins and lingering savoury notes. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
