Yarra Valley Pinot Noir
Wine
Journey Wines Yarra Valley Pinot Noir is drawn from two sites in the Upper Yarra Valley: predominantly Lone Star Creek Vineyard in Woori Yallock, with some fruit from Willowlake Vineyard in Gladysdale.
The fruit – all MV6 clone Pinot Noir – is handpicked. Most is destemmed into open fermenters, with a small portion added as whole bunches.
Fermentation begins in its own time with natural yeasts. The cap of grape skins is managed with gentle hand plunging and pump overs daily at the peak of the ferment. After an average of 14 days on skins, the wine is pressed.
For maturation, the wine is transferred to 20-25% new French oak barrels to age for around nine months before bottling.
Dark garnet, Journey Wines Yarra Valley Pinot Noir is concentrated and complex with earthy notes, savoury spice and silky tannins. Cellaring potential is seven years.
