Heathcote Fiano
Wine
Journey Wines Heathcote Fiano is drawn from the Chalmers Vineyard at Colbinabbin, near Heathcote in central Victoria. It is sited in ancient red Cambrian soils strewn with copper infused basalt.
The fruit is machine harvested and sorted onboard the harvester. At the winery, it is given 24 hours of skin contact before pressing.
Around half the juice is settled in tank to a high level of clarity then inoculated for fermentation. The remainder is transferred to old white puncheons with a higher level of solids for wild yeast fermentation.
The two portions are blended prior to bottling. There is no fining.
Straw green, Journey Wines Heathcote Fiano is linear and focused, with ripe fruits upfront, texture from the skin contact and a long finish. Cellaring potential is two years.
