Rachis Syrah
Wine
Domaine Naturaliste Rachis Syrah is sourced from the gravelly loam soils of the estate vineyard at Wilyabrup in Margaret River. The vines grow just seven kilometres inland from the Indian Ocean.
The name Rachis is from the Latin botanical term for the tiny connectors in a grape bunch that link the berries to the stalk.
The name alludes to the inclusion of one third whole bunches during fermentation. Following a long, cool ferment, the wine matures for 12 months on lees in new and second use French oak puncheons.
The rachis contributes perfumes, tannin and flavours additional to the grapes.
Red purple, Domaine Naturaliste Rachis Syrah is medium bodied with spicy red fruit flavours and refined structure. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
