Comrade Nero d'Avola
Wine
Eldorado Road Comrade Nero d'Avola is grown near the village of Eldorado between Beechworth and Wangaratta, where the climate is similar to Sicily, the home of Nero d'Avola.
The vineyard, just 50 metres from the winery, sits on a narrow seam of red granite buckshot soil, washed down from the Beechworth hills over millions of years. The fruit is handpicked.
A large number of small ferments ensure complexity in the final wine. Some are entirely whole bunch fermented while some are whole berry ferments. Yet others are a blend of both.
The wine is gently basket pressed and aged for 18 months on full lees in seasoned French oak. Only the best barrels are selected for the final blend. The wine is lightly filtered prior to bottling.
Deep red, Eldorado Road Comrade Nero d'Avola is complex and full bodied with bright fruit flavours, chewy tannins and a long finish. Cellaring potential is five years.
