106 Vines Mourvèdre
Wine
Soul Growers 106 Vines Mourvèdre draws from a tiny block planted in the 1880s on the outskirts of the Barossa. Once part of a much larger vineyard, just 106 vines have survived the spread of urban development.
The ancient vines eke by in dry grown conditions – no irrigation – and are all tended individually by hand. They produce minute yields of fruit, typically just enough to fill a single barrel.
Fermentation is in an open, shallow tub with hand plunging twice daily. The wine is then basket pressed and matured in a seasoned French oak hogshead for almost two years. Bottling is done by hand.
Deep red purple, Soul Growers 106 Vines Mourvèdre has upfront berry flavours, fine tannins and a silky smooth finish. Cellaring potential is 15 years.
