Gaia Cabernet Blend
Wine
Grosset Gaia Cabernet Blend is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. It takes its name from James Lovelock's Gaia theory, positing that the Earth is a single organism.
The vines are organically grown on the rocky, windswept Gaia Vineyard in the Clare Valley. At 570 metres altitude, the site was planted in 1986. It is the highest and coolest vineyard in the region.
The fruit is handpicked at optimum ripeness, destemmed and crushed for fermentation. The wine matures in French oak barrels, half of which are new. It then ages in bottle for a further 12 months.
Deep purple red, Grosset Gaia Cabernet Blend has dark plum flavours. Its slinky tannins sit delicately on a dry, long lasting finish. Cellaring potential is 12 years.
