Drumborg Vineyard Chardonnay
Wine
Seppelt Drumborg Vineyard Chardonnay is sourced exclusively from the mature, cool climate Drumborg Vineyard, planted in 1964 by Karl Seppelt.
The vineyard lies in south-west Victoria's Henty region. Swept by icy winds from the southern ocean, it is one of the southernmost vineyards of mainland Australia.
Select parcels of Chardonnay are chosen for their intensity of flavour and mineral acid structure. The grapes are whole bunch pressed and barrel fermented with full solids.
The wine matures for nine months in a mixture of French oak puncheons and smaller barriques, with monthly lees stirring. A further two months of maturation on gross lees in tank follows.
Pale straw green, Seppelt Drumborg Vineyard Chardonnay is long and pure with citrus flavours, subtle nutty oak and mineral acidity. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
