2014 St. Henri Shiraz

Vintage reviews

Another vintage that classically reaffirms St Henri DNA – it is not a Bin, nor RWT nor Grange-like.

A unique shiraz proposition that harks back to the late-1800's. Quality that doesn't date.

Recommend to decant this vintage – no ifs or buts! It will maketh the wine and reward your effort. Please.

This bottle was opened in front of me and served without decanting. Containing 4% Cabernet Sauvignon and with a deep garnet-purple color, the 2014 Shiraz St Henri has a relatively shy nose of black plums, black cherries and mulberries with nuances of underbrush, fruit cake and damp soil.

The full-bodied palate has satisfying richness, with firm, rounded tannins supporting the earthy fruit layers, finishing with good depth and persistence.

Rich and already expressive on the palate, it is nonetheless built for the long haul with firm, ripe and grainy tannins carrying the fruit to a long and layered finish.

This should be a long-lived St Henri that should cellar gracefully for at least 2 decades.
