2014 Bin 707 Cabernet Sauvignon

Vintage reviews

Bearing a Barossa stamp… out of a cool(er) year? In vogue with 707's from the 1980's? Nothing wrong with that!

Probably best not to mention the blend contains 10% Block 42! Sssh!

More structurally and texturally alive than weighty and lushly apportioned.

Recommend a gentler decant, and fresh pour to capture the first phase of this wine's initial 'trajectory'.

Very deep garnet-purple colored, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Bin 707 has gorgeous crème de cassis, cedar, dark chocolate, spice cake and menthol notes, with a yeasty/meaty undercurrent and a waft of espresso.

Medium-bodied, firm and fine in the mouth, it is intense yet elegant with great length and expression.

This is another Penfolds offering that is so taut and primary at this stage, it would be a shame to open it without 2-3 more years in bottle.
