Gundog Estate

After gaining invaluable experience in the US, France and Yarra Valley, Matt Burton returned to the Hunter Valley where he began his winemaking journey. In 2011 he stepped out on his own and established Gundog Estate.

Gundog Estate are boutique producers of the Hunter Valley staples Semillon and Shiraz. They draw from leading vineyards in the Hunter Valley, Hilltops and Canberra regions, including their own vineyard near Gundaroo. Each region, diverse in aspect, soil and climate, produces fruit with unique regional qualities. Certified carbon neutral, Gundog Estate work with growers who share their dedication to sustainability. The winemaking is a thoughtful mix of traditional and new practices.

Gundog Estate's lead wines are The Chase Semillon and Marksman's Shiraz. Matt Burton and Seville Estate's Dylan McMahon collaborate on the Burton McMahon wines, making a Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from Victoria.
