Winery
A preeminent winemaker, viticulturalist and wine judge, Leo Buring founded his winery in the 1930s. He played a major role in introducing white wine to Australians. Today the Leo Buring brand is owned by Treasury Wine Estates.
Under Treasury ownership, Leo Buring exclusively produces Riesling. Leo Buring winemakers have included John Vickery, the acknowledged master of Australian Riesling, as well as Penfolds white winemakers Oliver Crawford and Kym Schroeter, and now Peter Munro. To this day, Leo Buring own some of Australia's most distinguished Riesling vineyards. While they have broadened their reach into Tasmania, still the Clare and Eden Valleys provide most of their fruit.
For Leo Buring's leading Leonay Riesling, only the best rows in the best vineyards are selected. Their Clare Valley Dry and Eden Valley Dry Rieslings are also noteworthy. For the price, the quality is exceptional.
