One of Australia's pioneering wine brands, Dr Henry Lindeman founded Lindeman's in the Hunter Valley in 1843. In the 1960s Lindeman's began to broaden their regional footprint, purchasing vineyards across South Australia. Lindeman's Coonawarra grew from there.
Lindeman's original intention for their South Australian vineyards was cross regional sourcing to ensure consistent fruit for their wines. Only more recently have they shifted towards producing single region wines. The Coonawarra is a two kilometre wide, 25 kilometre long, cigar shaped strip of red terra rossa soil, which is renowned for producing the region's distinguished style of Cabernet Sauvignon. Lindeman's showcases this in their Coonawarra Trio range.
The St George Cabernet Sauvignon is a pure Cabernet. It is joined by the Pyrus blend of Cabernet with Malbec, Merlot and Cabernet Franc and the Limestone Ridge Shiraz Cabernet, the quintessential Australian blend.
