In 1847 Johann Gramp planted the Barossa's first commercial vineyard on the banks of Jacob's Creek. First known as G Gramp & Sons, the Jacob's Creek brand was established by Orlando in 1976 and is today owned by Pernod Ricard.
A popular Barossa Valley winery visit, Jacob's Creek sources fruit from more than 120 grape growers, many of whom they have worked with for generations. They stretch across the Barossa Valley, Adelaide Hills and Coonawarra in South Australia, matching varieties to the right soil and climate. Jacob's Creek is one of the largest selling wine brands in the world. They make a vast range of commercial wine under 12 labels.
Though Jacob's Creek is not principally a premium producer, their Johann Shiraz Cabernet stands out. The Organic and Limited Release wines are other highlights. The curious and affordable Double Barrel wines are also worth a look.
