Acquired by Louis Li, scion of the Chinese hotel family, Rare Hare is the re-named Willow Creek Vineyard. Built in its vineyards the luxury boutique hotel Jackalope is the centrepiece of the Li family investment.
With a permanent sculpture collection Jackalope takes its place in the international Vine Art Movement. Designed to include the original Federation farmhouse, Jackalope is an assertive architectural statement featuring resort style accommodation and fine dining among the vines. Located at Merricks North, the vineyard has some of the oldest vines on the Mornington Peninsula. With the cooling maritime influence, the vineyard produces fruit with intense varietal characters and high natural acidity.
Rare Hare's lead wines are their classic Mornington Peninsula varieties, O'Leary Block Pinot Noir and Willow Creek Vineyard Chardonnay. The Rare Hare range delivers quality wines at competitive price points.
