Winery
The Saw family established UMAMU in 2004, acquiring a property located east of the Margaret River township. Still a family operation, today Charmaine Saw is in charge of the business.
UMAMU's philosophy centres around balance: the idea that quality fruit comes from balanced vines and a harmonious ecosystem. They use sustainable practices to keep the soils, mid-row crops, micro-flora and native fauna as healthy as the vines. The vineyards comprise individually managed blocks, allowing their unique character to develop. The winemaking works in synergy with the fruit to allow the wines to speak of site and season, with a signature UMAMU touch.
UMAMU release their wines only after they have had time to develop: when they are ready rather than right after bottling. Their Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay are highlights.
