Purchasing a vineyard in Pokolbin, Bob and Maryanne McLeish set about replanting the property's vines in 1985 and established McLeish Estate that same year. Today daughter Jessica brings the winery into its second generation.
Nestled in the lower Hunter Valley against the backdrop of the Brokenback Range, the McLeish vineyard is characterized by a warm climate and friable red duplex loam soils. The vineyard was first planted to the Hunter's noted varieties, Semillon and Chardonnay, but has since grown to include Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Verdelho. No expense is spared in the vineyard to produce wines that reflect their place and varietal.
McLeish Estate are best known for their Semillon, with other notables including their Chardonnay and Shiraz. The wines capture the freshness and elegance for which the Hunter Valley is famous.
