Winery
Bryan and Jocelyn Martin teamed up with Bryan's brother David to establish Ravensworth in 2001. After many years making their wine at Clonakilla, in 2020 they completed their own winery with its straw bale cellar.
Their block is in Murrumbateman, near Canberra. Bryan Martin is the winemaker, or wine sorcerer more like. He is driven to experiment; while Shiraz remains king at Ravensworth, they also grow Sangiovese, Riesling and white varieties for blending including Marsanne, Roussanne and Viognier. The vineyard is managed under what they call 'natural forestry principles'. The vines grow amongst many other species of plants and microbial life. In their vine forest, Ravensworth cultivate over 20 varieties.
Ravensworth produce an array of wines as left of field as their labels. The Estate range leads, the Regional range close behind. The Esoteric range contains Bryan Martin's more outlandish creations. Watch this space.
