At the Winery
Winery
Rolf Binder, originally Veritas Winery, was purchased by Austrian immigrant Rolf Heinrich Binder and his wife Franziska in 1955. After many years run by second generation Rolf Binder and sister Christa Deans, in 2021 Accolade acquired the winery.
Rolf Binder's fruit is primarily sourced from estate vineyards throughout the Barossa and Eden Valleys, with the remainder from a select group of local growers. Nuances of the different sites add interest to the wines. The original Chri-Ro Vineyard along Seppeltsfield Road is home to their famous 1880s Mataro vines while their Riedl Vines Vineyard adds two blocks of centenarian Shiraz. Two other estate vineyards complete the set. Rolf Binder use traditional viticultural and winemaking techniques.
The Hanisch Shiraz leads the charge, with the Heysen Shiraz and Heinrich Shiraz Mataro Grenache other highlights. Their Montepulciano and Riesling showcase what the Eden Valley has to offer.
