In 2006 Adelaide Hills pioneer Tim Knappstein founded Riposte. 'Riposte' is a fencing term for a quick reply or counterthrust; the winery is his reply to the increasingly corporatized world of winemaking.

A close knit team, Riposte is family owned and run. Tim is the winemaker, his wife Dale general manager and son Nick brand manager. The philosophy is to be hands on at every stage of the winemaking. They work with dedicated growers at Lenswood and Piccadilly in the Adelaide Hills to ensure the grapes are picked at optimum ripeness, and craft their wines in small batches, to capture pristine cool climate character.

Tim Knappstein – and Riposte – are renowned for their Pinot Noir. The value for money highlight is the Sabre Pinot Noir. Others highlights include the Reserve Pinot Noir and The Cutlass Shiraz.
