Winery
After a decorated winemaking career spanning three decades, the late Patrick Tocaciu established Patrick of Coonawarra in 1998 and opened its cellar door in 2004. Today Patrick's eldest son Luke is in charge of the family business.
Coonawarra is famed for its terra rossa soils. A cool climate and long ripening period allow balanced acidity and gentle flavour development in the grapes. Patrick of Coonawarra's Home Block vineyard, surrounding the Tocaciu family home, produces low yields of rich fruit. They also have vineyards north at Wrattonbully above the world heritage listed Naracoorte Caves. Across all vineyards they practise organic composting, canopy management and minimal spraying. Traditional winemaking techniques prevail.
Patrick of Coonawarra wines are contemporary in style with cool climate elegance. The Grande Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon and Home Block Cabernet Sauvignon lead. The Two Blocks range is the most affordable.
