Winery
In 2004 Dr Andrew Pirie, taking a chance on making sparkling wine in Tasmania, founded Pirie Tasmania. Now owned by Brown Brothers, today Pirie Tasmania is an acclaimed producer of cool climate sparkling wine.
Pirie Tasmania's Kayena Vineyard is located in northern Tasmania's Tamar Valley, now recognized for its affinity for growing grapes for sparkling wine. Situated along the western banks of the Tamar River, the vines see unerringly cool ripening conditions producing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with finesse, elegance and delicacy. The wines are made in the traditional sparkling method, the same used to produce Champagne in France.
Pirie Tasmania is a sibling brand of Tamar Ridge. They make just three wines: Sparkling Vintage, Sparkling Vintage Rosé and Sparkling Non Vintage. Commitment to quality means the wines are made in limited vintages.
