Wine
Crittenden Estate The Zumma Chardonnay is the winery's best Chardonnay, a limited bottling from the oldest and most cherished vines. It draws from their Home Vineyard on the Mornington Peninsula.
The Zumma range is named after the childhood nickname of founders Garry and Margaret Crittenden's daughter Zoe, and has strong sentimental ties to the family.
The grapes are whole bunch pressed to a mix of new and 1-2 year old French oak barrels. Fermentation begins spontaneously with wild yeasts, the juice temperature controlled to retain clean fruit characters.
Only a small proportion of the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation. Maturation takes place in barrel for 12 months with occasional lees stirring.
Pale straw, Crittenden Estate The Zumma Chardonnay is rich yet restrained with an unmistakable cool climate acidity. Cellaring potential is seven years.
