Wilyabrup Valley Chardonnay
Wine
Woodlands Wilyabrup Valley Chardonnay is sourced from established vineyards in Wilyabrup Valley, Margaret River. The gravel subsoils ensure good drainage while the clay in the topsoils retain water through the summer.
At the winery, the fruit is handled gently to ensure clarity in the final wine. If destemming is needed, it is done via gravity and vibration; the remainder is whole bunch pressed.
Once pressed and racked, the juice ferments in French oak barrels without added yeast. Maturation mostly occurs in oak, though some batches are moved to stainless steel to maintain an element of freshness.
After eight months, the parcels are racked together, filtered and bottled.
Pale straw, Woodlands Wilyabrup Valley Chardonnay has generous depth of stone fruit flavour, wet stone minerality and a long, fine finish. Cellaring potential is seven years.
