Filius Chardonnay
Wine
Vasse Felix Filius Chardonnay is named for the Latin term meaning 'son of'; it is the 'son' of the premier Vasse Felix Chardonnay. Its fruit is sourced from estate vineyards across Margaret River.
Each vineyard parcel is vinified separately. After several hours on skins, the juice is air bag pressed. All parcels are wild yeast fermented, with the levels of grape solids, new French oak and bâtonnage specifically tailored to each batch.
Malolactic fermentation is allowed in vintages when the fruit's natural acidity is high at harvest. Following around nine months in oak, the parcels are blended.
Pale straw green, Vasse Felix Filius Chardonnay is typified by bright fruit, subtle wild yeast complexity and a tight acid structure. Cellaring potential is five years.
