Single Vineyard Roussanne
Wine
Yelland & Papps Single Vineyard Roussanne draws from the Materne Vineyard in the north-east corner of Greenock in the Barossa Valley. It lies on rich loam over red clay soils.
The fruit is handpicked and cold soaked for up to 48 hours. It is then destemmed and basket pressed, with the free run and pressings portions of the juice kept separate.
Wild yeast fermentation takes place in French oak puncheons, where the wine also matures on lees with bâtonnage (lees stirring). The wine undergoes partial natural malolactic fermentation in oak.
Barrels with elegant characters are then selected to comprise the final blend. The wine is racked clean and bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Golden straw, Yelland & Papps Single Vineyard Roussanne has a creamy lemon meringue texture, fresh acidity and a soft tannin finish. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
