Tasmania Riesling
Wine
Stargazer Tasmania Riesling is sourced from the Palisander Vineyard at Tea Tree in the Coal River Valley. The vines, multiple clones of Riesling planted in the early 2000s, are all hand harvested.
The grapes are destemmed and left in contact with skins for eight hours. After gentle pressing most of the juice ferments in stainless steel while the remainder is sent to seasoned oak and/or ceramic eggs, depending on the vintage.
Some of the ferments are arrested before sugar dryness is reached. The wine then spends close to three months on lees with regular stirring prior to bottling.
Pale straw, Stargazer Tasmania Riesling has spicy citrus flavours and a judicious touch of residual sugar framed by typical Tasmanian talc like acidity. Cellaring potential is six years.
