Tasmania Chardonnay
Wine
Stargazer Tasmania Chardonnay is sourced from a single vineyard planted in 1999 in soils white silica sand over sandstone and clay. The vines, sited on a north-east facing aspect, are all hand harvested.
The grapes are whole bunch pressed and transferred directly to a mix of new and seasoned French oak puncheons. Wild yeasts are used for fermentation.
Malolactic fermentation, partial in some years and complete in others, follows. The wine then matures undisturbed for eight months, allowing the fruit to express itself. Once blended, the wine rests in tank prior to bottling.
Very pale straw, Stargazer Tasmania Chardonnay is sleek and streamlined. Generous fruit flavours are the focus, supported by subtle spicy oak. Cellaring potential is eight years.
