Rare Rutherglen Muscat

Pfeiffer Rare Rutherglen Muscat is the winery's top tier Muscat. It is the result of blending the richest and most complete wines in Pfeiffer's cellar.

The fruit is harvested late in the season when its sugar levels are high and some of the grapes have begun to raisin on the vine. It is crushed into static fermenters for three days of cold maceration.

Fermentation is only just allowed to begin before the juice is pressed into stainless steel tanks and fortified with a neutral grape spirit. The resulting sweet wine is clarified then transferred into barrels and casks of different volumes to age for many years.

This maturation process concentrates the wines and produces rich, complex flavours. The best parcels from the best vintages make the final blend. At bottling the wine has an average age of 25 years.

Deep dark brown, Pfeiffer Rare Rutherglen Muscat is intensely concentrated and persistent with seamlessly integrated flavours of coffee and dark chocolate.

Having fully matured in barrel, it is ready to drink on release.
