First Light Reserve Pinot Noir
Wine
Helen's Hill First Light Reserve Pinot Noir is grown on the winery's most easterly block, planted in 1983. These old vines are the first on the vineyard to see the first light of dawn each morning.
The wine is made entirely from MV6 clone Pinot Noir, handpicked when acidity, sugar levels and flavour come into balance.
The grapes are destemmed and lightly crushed, ensuring a percentage of the berries remain whole. Open top fermentation occurs on skins with daily gentle pump overs to develop structure and aroma.
Once pressed off skins, the wine is racked to new and seasoned French oak barrels for 11 months of maturation.
Deep ruby, Helen's Hill First Light Reserve Pinot Noir has classic MV6 clone characters of intense dark fruits, firm tannins and a savoury profile. Cellaring potential is seven years.
