Block C Shiraz
Wine
Heathcote Estate Block C Shiraz is part of the winery's Single Block series, handpicked from just one block of estate vines in Heathcote, central Victoria.
Block C, planted in 1999, grows in sandy clay loam topsoils over quartz-strewn friable clay. It is known for producing intensely concentrated fruit.
Most of the grapes are gently destemmed for fermentation in traditional open fermenters, with some whole bunch inclusion. The wine is then pressed and transferred into new and seasoned French oak puncheons.
It undergoes malolactic fermentation and around 12 months of maturation, racked twice. The wine is then prepared for bottling.
Intense dark red, Heathcote Estate Block C Shiraz is rich and plush yet long and fine, with a deep core of powdery tannins. Cellaring potential is 15 years.
