The Virgilius Viognier
Wine
Yalumba The Virgilius Viognier is the winery's most distinguished Viognier. It is made from eight different clones from the Yalumba Eden Valley nursery. Since 1980 Yalumba has pioneered the growing and making of the variety in Australia.
The handpicked grapes are whole bunch pressed directly to seasoned French oak barriques to ferment with wild yeasts. The wine then ages on lees with regular bâtonnage (stirring) for 10 months to heighten complexity and flavour.
Pale yellow, Yalumba The Virgilius Viognier has trademark Viognier lusciousness while at the same time displaying purity and restraint. Cellaring potential is five years.
