Wine
Torbreck The Factor is a Shiraz sourced from old vineyards across the Barossa Valley. Drawing on the winery's Scottish heritage, the wine takes the name given to the manager of a highland estate.
The Factor pays homage to the Barossa's unique point of difference – great old Shiraz vineyards and the growers who each year painstakingly tend and nurture them.
Many of these vineyards were not affected by the phylloxera outbreak that ravaged the vineyards of Europe in the 1880s. They survive on their own roots, and well over a century later, are clonal time capsules.
The parcels of old vine fruit are individually selected, vinified and matured separately in 40% new French oak barriques. Following ageing for 24 months, the wine is assembled and bottled without fining or filtration.
Deep purple, Torbreck The Factor has a core of earthy dark fruit flavours. It is brooding and dense with firm tannins. Cellaring potential is 15 years.
