William Randell Barossa Shiraz
Wine
Thorn-Clarke William Randell Barossa Shiraz, reserved only for excellent vintages, is made solely with estate grown fruit from the winery's St Kitts and Milton Park Vineyards.
The grapes are crushed into small fermenters, with each batch treated individually during the ferment. Manual pump overs allow good control over tannin extraction.
The wine is filled to 40% new American oak for malolactic fermentation, then is racked and returned to the same oak to age for an average of 18 months. Only the best barrels comprise the final blend.
Inky red, Thorn-Clarke William Randell Barossa Shiraz has spicy dark fruit flavours with integrated tannins and a long finish. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
