Wine

Tahbilk 1927 Vines Marsanneis sourced from the estate's 1927 Marsanne vines – the oldest and largest single planting in the world. It is produced only in limited quantities.

The wine leads Tahbilk's range of white wines. Its inaugural release was the 1998 vintage in 2006.

The fruit is harvested early to retain its high natural acidity. The clean juice is fermented at 11-15°C in stainless steel tanks, resulting in a wine the colour of water, high in acidity and practically flavourless.

The magic happens in the bottle. The wine is aged for at least six years before release, developing terrific character and complexity; as winemaker Alister Purbrick says, "it's a classic ugly duckling to beautiful swan story".

Very pale straw, Tahbilk 1927 Vines Marsanne has a framework of steely acidity supported by classic varietal characters of honeysuckle, citrus and minerality.

Further ageing allows the wine to develop rich and savoury nuances. Cellaring potential is 35 years.
