Pinot Noir
Wine
Shaw + Smith Pinot Noir is primarily sourced from the estate vineyard at Lenswood, sited in brown loam over clay soils with broken shale along the ridges.
The vineyard is fastidiously managed and cropped at miniscule levels – essential for a variety as capricious as Pinot Noir.
The fruit is hand harvested and sorted. It ferments as whole berries and whole bunches in small open fermenters. After around two weeks on skins, the wine matures in French oak barrels, predominantly puncheons.
Light red, Shaw + Smith Pinot Noir light to medium bodied, delicate and fragrant but with deceptive power and silky tannins. Cellaring potential is five years.
