VSV 1885 Shiraz
Wine
Peter Lehmann VSV 1885 Shiraz belongs to the 'Very Special Vineyard' series, made only in exceptional years when a single site perfectly harmonizes varietal and region.
This fruit is from a small block of red brown earth at Ralph and Angela Schrapel's vineyard in Ebenezer, Barossa Valley. Planted in 1885, the gnarled old vines produce sparse crops of small, intense berries.
Fermentation occurs on skins over several weeks, with partial barrel fermentation in some years. After gentle basket pressing and settling in tank, the wine is aged for 15-18 months in French oak hogsheads.
Deep magenta, Peter Lehmann VSV 1885 Shiraz seamlessly balances power and grace. Full bodied and opulent, it has a firm tannin structure and finishes with long blue fruit flavours.
Pure old vine Barossa Shiraz. Cellaring potential is 15 years.
