Wine
Peter Lehmann Stonewell Shiraz was first made in 1987, when winemaker Peter Lehmann set out to truly embody the muscular, intense characters of Barossa Shiraz.
Tiny parcels of outstanding fruit are selected from small, old vineyards, the oldest planted in 1885. These sites produce small, deeply coloured and intensely flavoured grapes – like 'little black jewels' of the Barossa.
The wine is fermented and kept on skins for two weeks, undergoing partial barrel fermentation in some vintages. Following pressing and clarification, it matures in French oak hogsheads for 12-15 months.
After bottling, the wine develops in Peter Lehmann's cellars before release. It is made in strictly limited quantities.
Deep garnet with a black centre, Peter Lehmann Stonewell Shiraz is a wine of immense intensity. It is superbly taut with deep fruit flavours reined in by firm tannins.
One of Australia's greatest Shirazes. Cellaring potential is 20 years.
