Wine
Penfolds RWT Barossa Valley Shiraz is a counterpoint to the multi-regional and American oak approach that is the hallmark of the Penfolds Grange style.
RWT Shiraz has only Barossa Valley Shiraz and is matured only in French oak. The initials RWT stand for 'Red Winemaking Trial', the name given to the project internally when it was developed in 1995.
Fruit is selected for its aromatic qualities and fine texture rather than its intensity. The wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks with wooden header boards and matured for 15 months in new and seasoned French oak.
A deep ferrous red, Penfolds RWT Barossa Valley Shiraz is opulent in style, contrasting with the more muscular and assertive Grange style. Cellaring potential is 20 years.
