Burnt Block Shiraz
Wine
Mr. Riggs Burnt Block Shiraz is a single vineyard expression of McLaren Vale Shiraz, evolved from the winery's Scarce Earth Shiraz.
The fruit is sourced from Piebald Gully Vineyard at Clarendon. It is the coolest climate area of McLaren Vale, and combined with the vineyard's altitude the fruit ripens up to two weeks later than the rest of the region.
A single block – Burnt Block – provides fruit for this unique expression of McLaren Vale Shiraz. It was first planted in 1998 but that same year a lightning strike caused a fire, wiping out most of the vines. Hence its name.
Deep dark purple, Mr. Riggs Burnt Block Shiraz has dense fruit flavours with flourishes of spice and a long, intense finish. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
