Black Shiraz
Wine
Meerea Park Black Shiraz was originally meant to be a one off commemorative wine celebrating the winery's 20th vintage in 2011.
Yet when the 2014 vintage proved exceptional, Meerea Park could not resist. Black Shiraz is now a premium wine released only in years that represent outstanding Hunter Valley Shiraz.
Fruit from old Shiraz vines is open fermented with daily hand plunging. It then typically matures for 18 months in new and one year old French oak.
The best barrels of the vintage are selected for the blend, with richness and balance the two key influences of the decision. These are important hallmarks of quality and ageing ability.
Deep crimson, Meerea Park Black Shiraz verges on full bodied, with dark fruit flavours and soft, silky tannins supporting long length. Cellaring potential is 20 years.
