Field of Mars Block 6 Chardonnay
Wine
Keith Tulloch Field of Mars Block 6 Chardonnay, made in limited quantities, draws from a 0.25 hectare block of the estate vineyard, planted in 1968 along Hermitage Road in the Hunter Valley.
The vines grow on ancient winding creek beds in the region's famous alluvial sandy soils. Close planted and dry farmed, they produce intense fruit character.
In ancient Rome, the Field of Mars was a parade grounds for victory celebrations. Keith Tulloch's Fields of Mars range is reserved for the winery's top echelon wines, celebrating the best selections from their Hermitage Road property.
The fruit is handpicked, destemmed and crushed. Its juice is entirely barrel fermented in French oak, typically with wild yeast, followed by maturation in the same barrels.
Bright straw, Keith Tulloch Field of Mars Block 6 Chardonnay offers commanding fruit flavours underlined by creamy, nutty oak and a long, tight finish. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
