The Lodge Hill Riesling
Wine
Jim Barry The Lodge Hill Riesling is sourced from the Lodge Hill Vineyard located on the eastern ranges of the township of Clare. Jim Barry purchased the vineyard in 1977.
At 480 metres altitude, the vineyard is one of the highest in the Clare Valley. Its brown loam soil over ancient slate bedrock forces the vines to struggle, producing steely, distinctive minerally Rieslings.
Small batches of the early ripening fruit are harvested in the cool of night. The grapes are gently pressed and promptly fermented, preserving their natural flavours.
Brilliant pale straw, Jim Barry The Lodge Hill Riesling has intense citrus flavours, talc like minerality and a juicy acid finish. Cellaring potential is six years.
