Wine
Howard Park Abercrombie Cabernet Sauvignon honours Walter Abercrombie, the great grandfather of estate co-owner Jeff Burch. The Abercrombie was first produced in 1986.
The wine comprises the best batches from the Abercrombie Vineyard in Mount Barker and the Leston Vineyard in Margaret River. The grapes are handpicked in small parcels and sorted.
Fermentation is in headed down stainless steel fermenters and small open stainless steel vats. Select batches remain on skins post ferment to enhance the tannin profile, while others are pressed to capture fruit vibrancy.
With each batch remaining separate, the wine is basket pressed to French oak barrels, mostly new, for up to 24 months of maturation.
Ruby purple, Howard Park Abercrombie Cabernet Sauvignon has opulent dark fruit flavours, refined tannin structure, bright acidity and great length of flavour.
The flagship Cabernet Sauvignon. Cellaring potential is 15 years.
