Henry's Seven
Wine
Henschke Henry's Seven is a Shiraz blend from recent plantings. The blend is a nod to the early Barossa settlers who introduced southern French and Spanish varieties to South Australia.
It is named in tribute to Henry Evans, who planted Henschke's first vineyard – of seven acres – at Keyneton in 1853.
This wine typically comprises 65% Shiraz, 15% Grenache, 10% Mataro and 10% Viognier. The Shiraz is co-fermented with the Viognier, while the Grenache and Mataro are fermented separately.
The wine is matured in seasoned French oak hogsheads for 10 months prior to blending and bottling.
Deep garnet, Henschke Henry's Seven has dark fruit flavours, red berry acidity and fine tannins, finishing long and peppery. Cellaring potential is 15 years.
